Introduction to Devotion and Disabilities


     Hi everyone! This is my first blog post, which I am hoping goes well! First thing's first, my name is Shelley and I am a devoted christian who strives to live for The Lord daily. A few things about me is: 1.) I LOVE to laugh! 2.) Just graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Women and Gender Studies'. 3.) My best friends mean the world to me. 4.) I love Jesus!

 

    I wanted to create a blog to inspire others and one that is faith-based as well! I always love sharing my love for The Lord. My faith is such a huge part of my life. In my blog, I will be sharing and posting different scriptures in hopes it can be an encouragement to anyone who wants to read my blog. I also will be sharing my disabilities and those struggles that I have experienced throughout my life, also in hopes of helping anyone. I will be discussing how my faith in a way collides with my disability and how I can hopefully help others.

 

    In my next post, I will talk a little about my disability and how I have been overcoming it throughout my life and what I have and how has affected me along with posting and sharing some scriptures. I hope everyone enjoys!

Third Post- How has my faith grown? - " I am a fighter" story

  Hi everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying reading my blog so far! I hope I am helping some people through this, since that is what I always strive to do, help others. One thing I thought I'd talk about that kind of sums up who I am is ' a fighter.' If someone asked me how I would describe myself, the one phrase that comes to mind is that I'm a fighter. And in a way, that is one thing that has always inspired me to keep going, and to keep clinging onto my faith. It has always reminded me remain strong and to always refer to scripture. Each time I had a difficult time walking, I would keep trying to until I actually could. Each therapy I had gave me strength and confidence to where I could overcome my disabilities and where I would be able to walk. My second Blog post

  Hi ya'll! In this second post, I will be talking more in detail about my disability and what it is and how it has affected me throughout my life and in society. For those that don't know, I have cerebral palsy, which is a disability that affects my legs and my gait in the way I walk. Cerebral palsy is caused by brain damage at birth. The kind of cerebral palsy I got diagnosed with is called,' Spastic Diplegia.' When I was little, I underwent quite a lot of therapies. I have faced challenges with my disability. Because of my disability, it does take me longer than a neuro typical person to process information. That is something that I've really had to work on, especially with my job since I have to work fast-paced. I do still struggle with it sometimes.
