Riding horses and my disability

Image
Hi  ya'll!  ] In this post, I'll be talking about riding horses. That is something I have done for about 20 years of my life. I competed in horse competitions from the time I was very young throughout high school and about half of my college career, until I decided to put an end to it in January of 2019 when I made the decision to leave my school and equestrian team. I did different riding disciplines growing up: English and then later Hunt-Seat riding. Riding horses is actually a big part of my disability, what many people don't know is it helps me walk better. I have gotten several questions about this, and riding has always been my physical therapy. I have temporarily stopped riding, since I decided to come home from college, and finish my degree online and get my job. I knew I wanted to stop riding competitively, but keep riding for fun and for therapy. I actually plan to start riding again very soon! It's been over two years since I last sat on the back of a horse...

Encouraging others through Christ

Image
Hi ya'll! I want to always use my blog as a way to encourage and help others. Something that has been on my heart lately is how can we best encourage others all while representing Christ? While my blog does contain my journey with my faith and disability and my story, I always want to use it to mainly bring encouragement to others and help bring others to Christ and Jesus's word. I wanted to write a post about encouragement and to encourage all of you. "Therefore encourage one another, and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. " -1 Thessalonians 5:11 Our purpose on this earth is to live for Christ and to glorify him. We are here as his people to represent Jesus and to spread his word and to encourage others through him. While we live through hard and struggling times, we have to remember to lift each other up and show kindness and keep our heads up and keep The Lord and his word in mind. Personally, whenever I struggle or have bad days I try and keep T...

How has my disability helped me become closer to The Lord?

Image
How has my disability helped me become closer to The Lord? I always want to look at me having a disability in the most positive ways that I can. In a way, yes. It has! It has made my faith stronger, if anything. We have to remember that The Lord has a plan for us, and I always knew he would have a plan for me and to get me through all struggling times. And he has. And he continues to. He has made all of us beautiful and uniquely different! I have always had scriptures planted in the back of my mind, to remember, and to always represent The Lord and his word best I can. That is something i always strive to do daily. That is the whole point of me doing this blog, to not only help others, but to do it for The Lord and his glory. I have always had strong faith and as I have gotten older, it has only grown stronger, which makes me so happy and blessed to say that I do have a strong relationship with The Lord. I hope through my blog, to help others grow in that way as well. " Faith d...

Encouraging scriptures

Image
Hi ya'll! I hope everyone has been enjoying my blog so far! For this post, I wanted to write about different scriptures that has always been helpful for me, and I hope that these are helpful for all of you as well! ' You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength."- Philippians 4:13 "Faith can move mountains." -Matthew 17:20 These are some of my favorite verses. I always find them so beautiful and meaningful and it's The Lord comforting us. He is reminding us that we can do all things through him, and he will give us strength. Whatever challenges and struggles we may face, we must always have faith and seek Christ.Through all of our struggles, we always have to keep clinging onto The Lord and our faith. That is also something my mom has taught me, to lean onto my faith. Jesus said, " Truly, if I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain "move from there to there" and it will move. Noth...

How can our faith become stronger?

Image
This time, I am doing a blog post slightly different. How can our faith become stronger? Even though I am very happy and proud to say that I have very strong faith, it is aways something that I strive to do daily and something I think about quite a bit. How can I best represent God? How can I best represent his word? That is another thing I strive to do daily. Whenever I go to work, or whether I am out and about, through my friends, etc. that does go through my mind. The Lord and representing him as much as I can. Whether that is just being kind to someone, or smiling at a person, or if they are having a bad day tell them you'll say a prayer for them. You never know how that can make a person feel. I always try my best to do what The Lord would want me to do and live my life how he would want me to live it. It is he who i live for. Something I personally do is write down scriptures, since that is helpful and that helps me memorize more of them which has been a...

Third Post- How has my faith grown? - " I am a fighter" story

Image
Hi everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying reading my blog so far! I hope I am helping some people through this, since that is what I always strive to do, help others. One thing I thought I'd talk about that kind of sums up who I am is ' a fighter.' If someone asked me how I would describe myself, the one phrase that comes to mind is that I'm a fighter. And in a way, that is one thing that has always inspired me to keep going, and to keep clinging onto my faith. It has always reminded me remain strong and to always refer to scripture. Each time I had a difficult time walking, I would keep trying to until I actually could. Each therapy I had gave me strength and confidence to where I could overcome my disabilities and where I would be able to walk. I would 'fight" until I could make change and make my goals, make my goals a reality. If anyone is struggling, keep going until you achieve your goals, make them a reality. "Faith does not make things easy, it ma...

My second Blog post

Image
Hi ya'll! In this second post, I will be talking more in detail about my disability and what it is and how it has affected me throughout my life and in society. For those that don't know, I have cerebral palsy, which is a disability that affects my legs and my gait in the way I walk. Cerebral palsy is caused by brain damage at birth. The kind of cerebral palsy I got diagnosed with is called,' Spastic Diplegia.' When I was little, I underwent quite a lot of therapies. I have faced challenges with my disability. Because of my disability, it does take me longer than a neuro typical person to process information. That is something that I've really had to work on, especially with my job since I have to work fast-paced. I do still struggle with it sometimes. However, all my life I have always turned to scripture through all of the challenges. I have always found God's word to be very comforting. My faith has always been such a huge part of my life. I have always ...
